52 lists {12} - the things that feel like home

List #12 - List the things that feel like Home

It's not where you live, but HOW you live!

This list hits so close to my heart.

God didn't promise me a manicured lawn, a rose garden, a housekeeper, or even a choice of where I live.  Instead He promised to meet my needs, even when I didn't know what they were.    I had a complicated need that had to be met first.  I had to be out of the unbearable painful pressure building inside my head. Nothing else mattered but to find a way to function.  To lie down and sleep instead of pacing the floors alone at night in pain.  To eat without the nausea from pressures inside my head causing the uncertainty lightheaded and off balance feelings.  To be at home without the repeated hour long trips to the Emergency Room for treatment.  He met our needs.

Being back home for 2 years is surreal.  I am not sure that I can put into words the feelings that are still swirling around inside of me.

  • family
  • my husband coming home to me every day after work
  • candles
  • words of inspiration around me
  • the smell of a home cooked meal
  • wood burning
  • the sound and smell of rain
  • a snow covered landscape
  • wild flowers on the table
  • sounds of home - washer and dryer, dogs barking, horses stomping their buckets
  • my bed made
  • essential oils diffusing
  • books on the shelves
  • clothes drying on the clothesline

I hope that you will join me!

  1. I love that your first item listed is family. That is so true, family really does make everywhere feel like home.
